Elementary & High School

Each year parents/guardians are eligible to apply for book allowance for registered band member students or those living on reserve who will be on Ts'kw'aylaxws Nominal Roll.  The Book Allowance is for all Ts'kw'aylaxw registered Band Members enrolled in grades Kindergarten to grade 12.  It is also available to those who are not Registered Band Members but reside on our reserve and are eligible to be on Nominal Roll.

 

Qualifications:

• The Application must be filled out completely or it will not be processed;
• Submit completed forms to the reception if the education coordinator is unavailale and she will place in education mailbox;
• The student must be enrolled in grades Kindergarten to grade 12;
• Ts'kw'aylaxw students cannot be living on another reserve if they are trying to collect from Ts'kw'aylaxw (contact the education coordinator from the reserve you are located and they will assist with book allowance);
• Ts'kwa'aylaxw students do not have to live on our reserve to be eligible for book allowance, but they cannot live on another reserve;
• The top portion of the applicaton is collected for Nominal Roll purposes;
• The bottom portion is for students in grades 8 to 12 and if completed allows the education coordinator to collect monthly attendance for school cheque purposes.  If this portion is not completed then attendance will not be collected and they will not be eligible for school cheques each month;
• The education coordinator will review each book allowance application and if approved a cheque will be made and held in either the education or finance office for pick up unless other arrangements are made.
• Any questions regarding the book allowance applications can be directed to Sherry Kane, education coordinator.
• Each student will receive $60.00 for assitance for supplies.

Procedures for Registering Concerns with School District #74

At the bottom of this page you will find Policy #1006 and Regulations #1006 for registering a concern within School District 74.  If you and your child has any concerns with teachers, students, bus drivers, principals, etc. these pages will explain how to deal with the concern.

Following the procedures as outlined will ensure your concern is resolved in the appropriate manner and in a timely manner.

I enourage all parents to put your concerns in writing and present them so that if further action is required you will have everything documented.  If you would like support when dealing with a concern I am available to assist you with this process.

Post Secondary

Post Secondary applictions

The deadline for all post secondary applications is April 30th of each year.  To be eligible for selection you must ensure you submit an appliction on or before the due date or your application will be considered late and you will have to submit a new application the following year.  Each year the education committe in Ts'kw'aylaxw holds a meeting to review and discuss the applictions received for post secondary funding.

Extension Training

   All registered Band Members are eligible for $500 per year in extension funds as funding permits.  The application form is below and a reminder that as part of the agreement all applicants promise to provide education with a copy of thier certificate upon completion of the course and understand that if they fail to provide a copy to education they will not be eligible for further funding.

Scholarships & Bursaries

 All registered Band Members are entitled to a bursary upon successful completion of a certificate, diploma, or degree program.  For a certificate a member will recieve $250.  For a diploma a member will receive $500.  For a Degree Program a member can receive $1,000.  A member cannot exceed $1,000 in bursaries from Ts'kw'aylaxw.  For example,  if a person was to collect for a certificate and a diploma then they will receive $250 for completion of a degree.
