Verna Diablo, Finance Clerk

Hello! 

-My name is Verna Diablo.  I have been employed with the Pavilion Band (Ts’kw’aylaxw First Nation) for the past 22 years.  I started off as the Secretary/Receptionist in May 1982.

-I also covered the Social Development clerical duties, and later on Membership clerk was added on when the Bill C-31 came into effect.

-In 1982, the Chief & Council had taken over the program delivery from the Lillooet District Indian Council.  Programs taken over were the Education & Social Development.

-The first education coordinator at the time was Cheryl Edwards who had just graduated from high-school that year.  The staff at the time was just the administrator; education coordinator, social worker and myself.

-Health was later added on, along with the Housing Coordinator & even then a Recreation Coordinator.

- In 1994, I moved over to the Treaty Dept. as the finance/secretarial clerk.  After Treaty closed up, I was moved back over to Ts’kw’aylaxw Band employment again, as the finance clerk.  I am still employed in this department and will probably remain til I decide on my early retirement.
