The Education Department provides funding and opportunities to the current youth looking to expand their capacities as well as the Post-secondary demographic looking to expand and/or improve their capacities.

Elementary and High School

Each year parents/guardians are eligible to apply for book allowances for registered band member students or those living on reserve who will be on Ts'kw'aylaxw's Nominal Roll. The Book Allowance is for all Ts'kw'aylaxw registered Band Members enrolled in grades Kindergarten to grade 12.  It is also available to those who are not Registered Band Members but reside on our reserve and are eligible to be on Nominal Roll.

Qualifications for School Book Allowances

1. The Application must be filled out completely or it will not be processed;
2. Submit completed forms to the reception if the Education Coordinator is unavailable Reception will place in education mailbox;
3. The student must be enrolled in grades Kindergarten to grade 12;
4. Ts'kw'aylaxw students cannot be living on another reserve if they are trying to collect from Ts'kw'aylaxw (contact the Education Coordinator from the reserve you are located and they will assist with book allowance);
5. Ts'kwa'aylaxw students do not have to live on our reserve to be eligible for book allowance, but they cannot live on another reserve;
6. The top portion of the application is collected for Nominal Roll purposes;
7. The bottom portion is for students in grades 8 to 12 and if completed allows the education coordinator to collect monthly attendance for school cheque purposes. If this portion is not completed then attendance will not be collected and they will not be eligible for school cheques each month;
8. The education coordinator will review each book allowance application and if approved a cheque will be made and held in either the education or finance office for pick up unless other arrangements are made.

Post Secondary

Post Secondary Applications

The deadline for all post secondary applications is 4pm April 30th of each year. If the 30th lands on a weekend then the application must be in by the Friday prior to the 30th. To be eligible for selection you must ensure you submit an application on or before the due date or your application will be considered late and automatically placed at the bottom of the priority list.  Each year the education committee in Ts'kw'aylaxw holds a meeting to review and discuss the applications received for post secondary funding. For a copy of the post-secondary application contact the Education Coordinator.

Documentation for Post Secondary Funding Applications

All Applicants must submit the following documentation;

1. A Completed post-secondary application package from Ts'kw'aylaxw First Nations Education Department;
2. A Photocopy of recent status card (or letter from Membership Clerk);
3. Course outlines and approximate tuition for the program. On Appendix D be sure to include textbook fees, possible field trips for courses, and any other additional supplies you will require for the program;
4. Letter of acceptance into the program. Alternatively, a verification letter of enrolment that confirms enrolled for the year and full or part-time status;
5. Transcripts from high school ( if one wasn't provided previously) and, your most recent Post-Secondary Transcripts;
6. A Detailed letter of intent stating reasons for taking the program and what you will do once you complete the program;
7. Page 15 of the Post-Secondary guidelines signed and dated.
