COMMUNITY VISION

"Acknowledge our past by knowing the reasons for the shame, guilt, fear, hate, jealousy, resentments, reward us with healing, wholeness and positive changes creates spirituality and love which is a powerful connection with our Creator.  Our "vision" is of successful healing physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually to have peace and dignity.  It takes a whole community to be proud to be Indian again."

LOCATION

Ts'kw'aylaxw First Nation aslo known as Pavilion Indian Band is located in the south central interior of BC, approximately 40km northwest of Lillooet and 70km west of Cache Creek.  The Band has eight reserves but reside on only four of the reserves.

28% of the members live on-reserve and 72% live off reserve.

COMMUNITY FACILITIES

• Administration Building - which houses the administrative staff, Band Operated School, and Chief and Council.
  Located east of the Main Village on Pavilion IR #1.
• Community Hall- Was formally used as the Band Administration office.  Is equipped with a full kitchen and is used for large meetings, workshops, celebrations.
• Daycare/Preschool- Provides Daycare and Headstart services.  Located next to the Band Office.  Includes a small fenced yard, equipped with a playground.
• Fire Hall/Forestry Centre- Constructed  in 1986 it houses the Triple Combination pumper truck and fire fighting equipment.  Also provides storage for the forestry equipment.
• Pow Wow Grounds- Constructed in 1994, east of Marble Canyon subdivision.  Excellent location for cultural events in the warmer seasons.  The arbor does not receive regular maintenance.
• Church-Located within the Main Village and was constructed in 1898.  The church is considered a heritage site and was renovatd approximately 15 years ago.
• Skating Rink-An outdoor skating rink was constructed near Marble Canyon Subdivision.
• Cemetery-Located east of the Main village on pavilion I.R.#1.
• Shop Building-The Band has acquired a storage building located in Marble Canyon Subdivision, which is used for storage and maintenance also uses this for repairs.
• Ball Field-Is located adjacent to the Pow Wow arbour and is in close poximity to the Lime Plant and Marble Canyon Subdivision.
• Tannery-Constructed between 1976-1979 to accommodate members wanting to tan hides.  The facility has no running water, however, electricity is provided to the facility.
